Can the Deuce break loose? (sorry)

Interesting Wikipedia Fact: It is interesting to note that Chelsea owe their existence to Fulham, as by turning down an invite of the owners of Stamford Bridge due to the recent completion of the Johnny Haynes Stand in 1905, Chelsea were established to play in Fulham’s place.

Jackie’s club knowledge: Fulham came up with real intent, splashing 34 million pounds in 2001. Louis Saha and Luis Boa Morte were quite formidable, but the Cottagers finished 14th. They avoided real relegation battles up until last season and even finished in the top half once. Fulham are quite popular stateside due to the Nats (McBride, Bocanegra, Dempsey) who have featured.

Worst Kit:

Fantasy: 6 million pounds for Kamara? If you must pick a Fulham striker I’d stick with McBride, but he’s hit or miss as he doesn’t really do anything (fantasy worthy) except finish. Watching Fulham’s pre-season games in Hong Kong led me to believe Dempsey could be a fantasy factor. Could be my yank pride showing though. Lee Cook might also be worth a try and if you must pick a Fulham defender make it Frank Queudrue.

Best and Worst Possible Finish: 16th and 20th-Fulham are surely a part of the relegation scrap. Bringing in Cook, Healey, and Kamara might at least give them more than one player with 20 shots on goal this season, but Paul Konchesky and Chris Baird don’t figure to solve things at the back. Lawrie Sanchez manged to beat a reserve Liverpool with nothing to play for to keep Fulham up and even though they lost to Reading, Boro, and Arsenal the 4 points he collected got him the job. He’s probably in over his head, but perhaps Cook and Dempsey will have just enough tricks to keep the Cottagers up again.
