Above…the Hansbrough Special. It was a big win last night. Although Carolina struggled with the ACC’s last place team, the Tar Heels played pretty well, all things considered. Virginia was only able to make 38 % of their field goals and that was due mostly to Carolina’s defense forcing UVA into 59 jump shots. Tyler, Deon, and Wayne were very strong on the other end and even though we only got 4 fast break points, we were able to get good shots. A worrying sign was UVA’s 15 offensive rebounds. That might have something to do with the amount of jumpers (long rebounds) but Carolina absolutely must keep teams from getting a second chance to score against our D. William Packer was pissing me off again and I hope we are done with him for a bit. He didn’t think Lawson looked much better than he did last Wednesday. I guess it is possible we won’t see him until mid March. I don’t have any real information but some ankle sprains can take 6 weeks to recover from. That would be March 19th…the Wednesday after Selection Sunday. My point is that Tywon is just like the rest of us: day to day. Maybe he’ll play on Saturday or maybe he’ll be out for another two weeks. At any rate, the two wins in 50 hours have kept Carolina in the ACC regular season race and have given the Heels some experience running an offense that is primarily played in the half court. Possibly valuable to us at some point and if Tywon is out for several more games these wins will be big in determining where we are seeded. Robbi Pickeral notes that Ginyard has more than just ‘scrap on defense’.

Celebration! Canes get a nice win. Actually it is all about turning left. He has always been full of sh&te.

RIP Bill Currie.
