Uncle Beast Fister?

I was reading up on Tyler’s slightly younger brother Ben, a freshman guard for Mississippi St. They were on the losing end of that West Virginia shot repeated over and over on Sportscenter that knocked them out of the NIT semi-final. His profile reads nicely enough and then there’s the part about his uncle: “His uncle, Sean ‘The Beast’ Fister, is a three-time RE/MAX World Long Drive Golf Champion.” That family’s athletic accolades and conquests never cease to amaze….

Kind of Like Winning

You would think someone could’ve proofed the t-shirt design, even if it is just the NIT…

In Awe of the Great Hansbrough

hansbrough1.jpg I was a bit freaked out for a second when I saw that current UNC Football Coach Butch Davis had some sort of cancer in his mouth…but he’s acting as if it’s no big deal. My first thought was of the UNC football coach in the ’50’s (Art Tatum?) who died of freakin’ Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever and set the program back for years…and now Rey Terry has been tested for strep (sp?) throat and his status for the game on Friday is in question…some nights that’s good, some nights not good, but I hope he’s okay. I guess these Spartan players in the attached photo were kind of “posterized” in a way.

The Feast of Winners

After Local 506 music trivia last night, I was told several UNC basketball players were a few doors over at IP3 pizza, no one else was there. Tubafrenzy had on his “Psycho T” shirt so we had to go in. When we walked in Hansbrough said, “Nice shirt”. Deon Thompson in true Torrance, CA style had on Vans. Bobby Frasor was reppin’ his hometown of Blue Island, IL with a shirt that had the name of the town on the back. Copeland, Ellington, Dewey Burke, and Marcus Ginyard were the others. Nice guys overall. Some were still wearing the 2007 ACC Champs hat with their net tassle…they celebrate wins until midnight right? And it was only just past 11pm…If you frequent IP3 (which you should) you’ll certainly notice yet another photo of basketball players on the wall, because the IP3 manager certainly was eager to capture the moment with his camera.

Common Sense

Now I’m not one to pile onto the Duke lacrosse thing. I’m no soothsayer but I had a feeling from the beginning a lot of it was based on lies. Agree to disagree but having a stripper entertain you is fine…saying derogatory things to the stripper isn’t cool, but neither is a DA trumping up charges, well, that’s a whole other issue, but what is fun is slamming Duke especially when they’ve already paid you to perform there in the coming months. Here’s what our good friend Tubafrenzy had to say:

Have you heard about the Duke last-day-of-classes controversy? It’s
gotten very little attention compared to their other numerous
controversies…..but they booked Common to play the LDOC concert on
April 25th. And then after they signed the contract, someone found out
that Common had talked all kinds of smack about the Duke lacrosse team
in a freestyle at Emory University.

So now they are all up in arms about their own selection but they
can’t do anything about it.

I think I will go to the concert, wearing a Psycho T shirt.
